NURSE SUSAN TRAINS ME AND SOME OF MY VOLUNTEERS FOR THE NEW ANTIBIOTIC INFUSION THERAPY PUMP TONIGHT...........
Susan Boyce, R.N., who has been my home health nurse since mid July, will be here at 6 p.m., to train me and Jack Pennington, and Bill Shepherd, to use the larger antibiotic infusion therapy pump and the differences in its operation. The new antibiotic treatments will also be twice daily, for two hours each, mornings and nights. Randy Martin, M.D., my Infections Specialist, decided to end my use of Vancomycin, so as not to risk adversely affecting my kidney transplant. He has traded out my 1.25 G of Vanco, twice daily, for Zyvox, 600 MG, infused in 300ML bags. So after tonight's training I will be connected to my first treatment of Zyvox. One difference in the storage of the new antibiotic is whereas the Vancomycin was kept refrigerated until thirty minutes before the start of treatment, the Zyvox is kept at room temperature. More later after I have completed my first infusion of antibiotic Zyvox...........Fr. Troy
