WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER WATCHING ON SEPTEMBER 21ST, 1948...1957...1968...1970...1993...1998... ??????...........
As the 2011-2012, Television Season continues to premiere this week, the network premieres of, "The X Factor", on FOX; "Up All Night", on NBC; "Revenge", on ABC, among other premieres and season premieres, are the 2011 occurrence of this night in television history over the past sixty three years. Also on this date, beloved, hit, shows have premiered in years past. Going back to 1948, when Milton Berle premiered as Host of the, "Texaco Star Theatre", variety show, on NBC; that went on to become the, "Milton Berle Show". On September 21, 1957, Raymond Burr and cast, started a nine season run, with the premiere of , "Perry Mason", on CBS. Or in 1968, when the Jack Webb, half hour police drama, "Adam 12", premiered on NBC; starring Martin Milner and Kent McCord. In 1970, on ABC-TV, American viewers watched the premiere broadcast, of, "Monday Night Football"; with the trio of Howard Cossell, "Dandy" Don Meredith, and Frank Gifford, providing the color commentary. And September 21st, in the 1990's brought two more memorable television premieres - "NYPD Blue", in 1993, on ABC; and, "Will and Grace", in 1998, on NBC. These six television series premieres led to highly successful, multiple seasons, viewership, that have gained them a firmament in the dominions of tv-land. Whether the three new television series mentioned above, that are making their series premieres tonight, will join the annals of the other six series, that went on to television gold, only the weeks ahead will determine. Network television with stiffer than ever competition from cable, satellite, internet, and dvd, alternatives possess a narrower window for success, as the offerings for broadcast or video, evening's entertainment increases...........Fr.
