FEAST OF THE TRIUMPH OF THE CROSS...........

In today's liturgical celebration, we lift high the Cross, which to the world is a sign of defeat and derision. Used in the days of the Roman Empire, as a method of execution for common criminals, for  Jesus the Christ, the co-eternal Son of God, to be put to death by means of crucifixion, was an intentional mockery  of His Divinity and Redeeming Mission.  What was supposedly the tree of defeat bringing about the death of Jesus, became the instrument of salvation, as the sacrifice of Christ, vanquishes the power of sin and death over humankind.  The triumph and victory of the Cross is for Catholic-Christians a sign of joy and gladness, as we marvel at what God in Christ was able to attain for us, in the reconciliation of Humankind and the Divine, and the exaltation the Savior of the World and the King of the Universe, along with his fervent followers will share forever in God's Eternal Kingdom...........Fr.  Trou
