THE DUKE AND DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE - WILLIAM AND CATHERINE; ARRIVE IN CALIFORNIA FOR A THREE DAY STAY...........
Having completed a successfully first post wedding visit outside of the United Kingdom, to Canada, during the past week; Prince William Wales and his Bride, Catherine, flew into Santa Barbara, California tonight, where their plane was greeted by both California Governor Jerry Brown and First Lady Anne Gust Brown; and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigoso. During their three days in California, the Wales' will be socializing with Hollywood stars and Santa Barbara socialites, as they will be taking part in a fundraising event to benefit both local charities in California; and the Princes William and Harry, charities in Great Britain. Having thrown off British rule and the monarchy, 235 years ago, Americans in large measure, retain a keen sense of interest in the comings and goings of the British Royal Family. In this instance, the energy and optimistic of their youthfulness and their potential as the future King and Queen of England, drives a keen, charismatic, affinity for the newlywed couple they are. This brief visit to California marks the first time Duchess Catherine has visited the United States. What she wears and the things they say and do, will be the focus for much of their time in the Golden State. By comparison to the erroneous judgment in Florida this week, and the passing of a former First Lady who made her own concrete contribution to the common good, a royal visit by a young prince and princess pales. Yet the spark and spirit of goodwill and hopeful expectation they bring, is a positive sign we can anticipate a better and brighter future, if we put people and worthy causes first in the hierarchy of human experiences...........Fr.
