THE OBAMA WHITE HOUSE WINS ANOTHER LEGISLATIVE VICTORY IN THE 111TH LAME DUCK CONGRESS..........

Lees than seven weeks after taking what The President decribed as a, "shellacking" in the 2010 midterm elections, the remaining agenda of the outgoing 111th Congress has turned in The White House's favor, with the Bush Era Tax Cut Compromise passing both the House and Senate last week, and the repeal of the seventeen year old, "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", legislation passing the U.S. Senate on Sunday by a vote of 65-31.  There is now renewed hope that the latest START non proliferation Treaty between the USA and Russia, will be ratified by the Senate, before the final gavel falls this month.  What these votes undergird is the fluidity of politics and government and the art of Compromise in the legislative process.  Hopefully, the progress being achieved by this lame duck Congress is a sign that the split Congressional government that the 112th Congress will be, beginning in January, will also be constructive and not just an exercise in futility, bogged down by Presidential politics 2012..........Fr.  Troy
